Happy Easter!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I love to go to church and reflect on the resurrection of our Savior. Everyone gets dressed up in pretty dresses (which I didn't get a picture of- Hello!), it is spring time and there are beautiful Easter flowers, and time is spent with family and friends. So where did the Easter bunny, candy, and presents come from? I am sure there is meaning and origin somewhere along the line but it gets to be a bit too much for me. I do like dying Easter eggs and hiding them for Madison to find. And yes, she has gotten an Easter basket from the Easter Bunny with some treats in it too. However, this year we hit a new level with the Easter Celebrations. She had 4 different egg hunts, over 3 dozen plastic Easter eggs filled with candy, 3 different Easter Baskets with treats, and a pinata. I have never had so much Easter candy in my life! We have always hidden real eggs that we dye, those plastic filled eggs are just a good excuse to squeeze a little more sugar into the holiday if you ask me (Sorry Jame!). But, somehow each time we went to an egg hunt we found dozens of plastic eggs stuffed with candy. We tried to be the good parents and teach her the "real" reason we celebrate Easter. Ronnie even got out the gloves to try and explain the spirit leaving the body etc... She actually got it pretty well, as well as a 4 year old can I guess.



Madison picked out a sparkly egg kit this year and made some gorgeous eggs. We were pretty impressed with how they turned out. Not quite as cool as the organic tye-dye ones she did at preschool but pretty cool for a store bought kit. She woke up this morning to find that the Easter Bunny had actually came and hid her eggs and brought her a fun basket with "just what I wanted!" Yeah, that was a first, she got to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap and ask him what she wanted him to bring. Since when do you sit on the Easter Bunny's lap and tell him what you want for Easter. I thought that only Santa came to the malls for that?
After Church we went to dinner with some friends in our ward. They were so nice to have us and a few other couples over for dinner. We didn't have the traditional Easter Ham, instead we had Korean BBQ and many other yummy Korean dishes. My friend Tammy asked her little girl Angelica, who is 9, what she wanted to cook all of us for dinner. Angelica told her mom to cook a certain Korean dish that she likes. Tammy told Angelica that since it is Easter they should have some sort of traditional American Easter dish. Angelica said "but mom, Jesus died for everyone, even Korean people." Smart kid! They also had an egg hunt for the kids and the pinata to swing at. Beckham wasn't left out, fortunately his little buddy Max was there too and they were able to play together. They are starting to follow each other and show each other how to get into trouble. They kept following each other to the door and trying to get out. Or they would follow each other over to the kids table and try to get up on top of it. They are already little partners in crime. We have noticed that our husbands are starting to become big partners in crime. They were caught several times with the kids' flashlights trying to get me and Liz to notice the beams of light shining in our eyes. It was a fun day and good memories were made.
We hope that you all had a wonderful Easter. We missed all of our family and friends. It is definitely nice to have this Holiday to reflect on our Savior and are grateful to be able to celebrate the resurrection. We are so grateful for His love and sacrifice for each of us. We pray that you are all safe, healthy, and filled with lots of Easter candy!
